Chunli; An Epic Underdog Anthem By Kenyan Great Rappers
Fathermoh is very good at his job presently, and he's spent an inordinate amount of time in the last couple of months trying to convince himself, and us too, that he is the best. The artist is back in the scene with a jam dubbed Chunli where he's rapped alongside Smady Tingz of Mbogi Genje, Khaligraph Jones and Boutross. At number 15 trend songs in Kenya, Chunli is attracting not one, not two but all rap fanatics.
The song makes the four artists stand out in the long list of accomplished Kenyan rappers, whether they're gengetone artists, trap ones, drill artists or pop rappers.
Review
Fathermoh starts the song with a bombastic short verse then jumps into the chorus, amazing lines with LOADS of craziness.
Niko aluta baby na chana chana
Na siwezi kosa time ya kukupeleka java
Kamasutra doggy nakupa chupa
Kama ni mbleina wee chunga mii humangiana maduka aty
Chunli pelekwa na mtaratara
Sina mask mambanga si madibala
Cheki smart luku nimepiga maclarks
Huku story ni mashash dikla fisa tumeng’ara
Chunli pelekwa na mtaratara
Sina mask mambanga si madibala
Cheki smart luku nimepiga maclarks
Huku story ni mashash dikla fisa tumeng’ara
Smady Tingz comes in first with twisted wordings that only he can understand. He does it with too much creativity, you'll only get what he's saying if you listen keenly. After the chorus, Boutross jumps on to the second verse, the petite rapper has some decent wordplay and punchlines flexing his grills whenever and however.
Khaligraph closes the song with quite a bang, every once in a while dissing haters left and right. His wordplay is amusing yet one hundred percent relatable.
Lyrically, it's got profanity and many other things that little kids shouldn't be exposed to but Fathermoh, Khaligraph, Boutross and Smady are too brave to cross the line and speak the craziest parts of their minds (stuff that may be inacceptable to our society).
All in all the song is loveable. The said artists can really get all those lyrics together to make them sound good- into a really good rap. With hard-hitting beats and gangsta vibes, Chunli is ultimately a fun song to listen to.
